Saab enthusiasts trust us for expert service on these unique vehicles. We service all Saab models—handling everything from routine oil changes and brake service to timing belt replacement, clutch repairs, and engine diagnostics. Trust your Saab to a shop that understands what makes these vehicles exceptional.
Saab vehicles are unique — turbocharged, front-wheel-drive, with GM-era drivetrains in later models. We're experienced with Saab's distinct engineering and the common failure points that come with age.
Saab parts require knowing where to source them reliably. We have established channels for both OEM and quality aftermarket Saab components.
Most Saab repairs are completed same-day when parts are available. We're efficient and communicate clearly about timing.
Older Saabs can have expensive repair needs relative to their value. We give you an honest assessment of what makes sense to address.

These are the most frequent Saab problems we diagnose and repair at our South Salt Lake shop. Every job starts with a thorough diagnosis so you know exactly what's going on before any work begins.
Saab turbo engines are prone to oil sludge buildup from infrequent oil changes or using non-synthetic oil. Sludge blocks oil passages and causes turbo and engine bearing failure.
Saab 9-3 and 9-5 use a direct ignition cassette (DIC) instead of individual coil packs. These fail frequently, causing misfires. Quality replacement units are available.
Saab turbo engines develop PCV system failures that cause boost leaks, oil leaks, and rough idle. We replace PCV components with updated parts.
Utah's temperature swings, mountain roads, and high altitude put unique demands on your vehicle. Here's what we've learned from years of servicing Saabs in the Salt Lake Valley.
Saab turbo engines absolutely require full synthetic oil changed every 5,000 miles. The turbo runs extremely hot and conventional oil causes sludge buildup that destroys the engine.
Saab ignition cassettes are a wear item—keep a spare in the trunk if your car has over 100,000 miles. Failure is sudden and complete (no-start condition).
Saab 9-3 Aero and Viggen models use a unique turbo setup. Always use OEM-spec boost recirculation valves—aftermarket units cause boost control problems.
Yes. Although Saab ceased production in 2012, a robust aftermarket parts network exists. Orio (formerly Saab Parts) still manufactures and distributes genuine Saab components. Common wear items are readily available and we have reliable supplier relationships.
Saab 9-3 and 9-5 are well-engineered vehicles that reward proper maintenance with excellent longevity. The turbo engines are powerful and efficient. If the body is solid and you enjoy the car, absolutely worth maintaining. We give honest assessments of repair-vs-value on every job.
On Saab 9-3 and 9-5, the most common no-start cause is a failed direct ignition cassette (DIC). This is a known weak point. We also see crankshaft position sensor failures and fuel pump relay issues. Diagnosis is straightforward with the right scan tools, which we have.
Our shop in South Salt Lake is centrally located in the valley — most customers are within 15 minutes. We service Saab drivers from throughout the greater Salt Lake area.
