Can a Cracked Exhaust or Bracket Be Welded Instead of Replaced?
If another shop has told you a section needs full replacement because they can't weld it, it's worth getting a second opinion. On many exhaust and bracket repairs, a weld repair costs significantly less than full section replacement when the surrounding metal is sound. Waiting on a broken exhaust hanger will eventually crack the flex pipe it's letting stress. A cracked manifold flange getting worse makes the surrounding repair more difficult over time.
